I picked this book up in a charity shop because I had forgotten to take something to read with me whilst travelling to London on the train. It looked quite nice, was £1 and looked short enough for me to finish in a day. Once I was about a chapter in I realised that it was the 2nd in a series. How annoying.
This book was meh. This is the description on Goodreads,
“In the follow-up to Thrush Green, the arrival of a stranger in the village stirs ripples of speculation and interest.”
That’s it. One sentence. And it pretty much sums it up. Some single old women gossip about his arrival and there is low level drama when the stranger wants to build a statue to a long forgotten missionary from the village.
Needless to say everything gets nicely resolved and lives happily ever after. The story is completely forgettable but it served its purpose in giving me something to read on the train.
Would recommend to: Don’t bother
